During Pearl Harbor,
the Japanese carriers deployed their Kamikaze and Mitsubishi fighter planes.
The fighter planes attacked Hickam Air Force Base near Oahu, Hawaii with
many bombs and heavy fire while the Kamikaze planes battered the tops of
the American battleships and carriers. The American battleships tried to
defend themselves with their Anti-Aircraft guns, but it had little to no effect
on the Japanese forces.
The Japanese forces pushed forward into the outer docks and dropped
many submarines. Some submarines were for assault on the sides of the main
battleships [ the U.S.S. Arizona, Virgina, Utah, and Oklahoma ] in an attempt
to sink them and weaken the American's air defenses. This was successful,
and weakened the air support for the remaining ships. But by this time, the American
forces were severely damaged, and the battle was mostly over. After these submarines
were let loose, the Japanese carriers dropped Kamikaze submarines that had small
warheads on the front of them. These were to ensure that the main ships would
undoubtedly sink. These Kamikaze submarines were some of the last Japanese attacks
deployed, and could be dropped from planes or the main carriers. They could have also
been placed quietly at the bottom of the harbor and launched secretly so the American
battleships would not see it or expect it. After this, the end of the attack was in place.
